Hi there beautiful people, in the next few days I will be sharing with you my top 5 tips, more like lifestyle changes I made in the past few years and months which improved my overall health and transformed my body, cleared my skin and in my opinion cured my acne, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome & migraines!! Check out “My Transformation Page” if you have not yet.

This might not necessary work for everyone but these are things I swear by (& wish I knew about years ago!) and some of my tips might sound extreme to you but please be open minded. If you suffer from acne, bloating, constipation, fatigue, migraines or struggling to lose those last few pounds, keep reading because i’ll be sharing with you what worked wanders for me and what I wish someone shared with me years and years ago!

First let me give you a brief background about me, my story, & my philosophy! Being healthy was never a choice for me! I was never that girl who could eat everything and anything she wanted without putting on weight, I always struggled with my weight, found it hard to pass stool on weekly bases never mind daily! Not to mention, on top of being overweight, I had acne which was sooooo uncool!! 🙂

Acne days (2013)

The last 2 years, I’ve been on my “health” (no starving, not wanting to be skinny, but simply healthy!) journey which is still ongoing, but I learnt so much the past year, thanks to YouTube and Google! And I just want to share with you my top 5 tips to anyone out there who is trying to lose some weight, become healthier, or anyone  suffering from constipation, acne, IBS and CFS!

So here it is, my 1st tip, health advice, the first lifestyle change  I had to get use to is..

  1. Cutting Gluten out of my diet

If you have not read “My Story”, let me tell you briefly that cutting gluten of my diet was the best thing I ever did!

When I was 18, I suffered from constipation, bloating, and extreme fatigue! At that time, I was studying for my A levels exams and I could not help but notice that I was constantly tired and sleepy. I went to the doctor and run some blood test which came back clean, my health was spot on, it was NOT anaemia or thyroid, according to the doctor I was perfectly fine! That’s when she said that I might have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)! Typical me, I was hell no, I am sticking to that label and blaming my lazy ass on CFS! Something was up and I had to figure it out…

The next year, my skin flared up big time! It was so bad my skin looked burnt and there was no way I could have covered it with make-up! I went to the doctor and she said it was acne and prescribed pill and creams which barely made a difference. I knew what I had was NOT acne, I had acne in the past and I did at the time too but what I had then was a reaction of some sort. It felt like my body had enough of the abuse it had all those years, and that was my body’s way of screaming HELP ME!!!

Summer 2012 – My Skin Flared up!

Anyways I left the doctor’s office and I knew I had to figure this one out myself, for some reason I believed it was something I was drinking or eating and therefore I decided to cut foods, like eggs, cheese, nuts, one by one and see if it made a difference. Not so much difference, a month later I decided to cut gluten. Not sure how I came across that idea (cutting Gluten), but I did notice that every time I went for an Italian and ordered pasta, I left the restaurant looking PREGANANT (bloated, gassy, sleepy, constipated!)

So I put the two together and decided to cut gluten & guess what?? My skin improved, I still had acne but my skin wasn’t flaring up every now and then. On top of that, I also found it easier to pass stool, and it wasn’t daily but at least once every two days! And my extreme fatigue was pretty much gone! I FOUND THE CURE FOR CFS! My cure… 🙂 maybe its your cure too?!

I am sure many of you have heard this one before, but cannot imagine your life without bread, pasta, biscuits, cakes, etc. But seriously it is only a bad habit that needs to be unlearnt! 🙂

I am no celiac but I clearly have gluten intolerance and so does many other people, but we are not so aware of it because our body have been conditioned for so long to keep up with it!

If you do experience any of the symptoms I had (bloating, gassy, fatigue, constipation) perhaps you could try cutting Gluten for at least a week and see if it makes a difference. If you see no improvement then it’s not for you and I basically just wasted a week of your life – sorry in advance! But I am 95% that will not be the case… 🙂 I guarantee most of you, if not all, will feel AMAZING after eliminating gluten of your diet.

So what is Gluten?

  • Gluten is a protein composite found in wheat and related grains, including barley and rye. Gluten gives elasticity to dough, helping it rise and keep its shape and often gives the final product a chewy texture” (Wiki).

Okay, so the word “protein” above may make you wonder, well isn’t that good for me? I don’t know, experiment with and without gluten and tell me when is it exactly you feel better.

Some interesting facts…

  • Corn, quinoa, buckwheat (check out my buckwheat recipe), rice, millet, teff and more are all gluten free! 🙂
  • Only 15% of people with celiac disease have been diagnosed
  • You do not necessarily have to have celiac disease to eliminate gluten, you could have non-celiac gluten sensitivity!
  • Several studies show that individuals (especially IBS patients) who don’t have diagnosed gluten sensitivity can have adverse reactions to gluten”
  • & finally did you know that “Several disorders of the brain respond well to a gluten-free diet, including autism, schizophrenia and a rare form of epilepsy”.

& Here you have it, I thought I would include some interesting facts I found online to encourage and motivate you to try a week without gluten!L:) & by the way, please don’t use this method to an extreme and use it as an excuse to cut out bread, biscuits, cakes and all the junk! Some people are on a gluten free diet and still overweight (I was on my first year!). Cutting gluten off your diet doesn’t mean your a healthier person, it all depends on how you use or abuse it.

Tomorrow I will share with you my 2nd tip (click here) which cleared my acne and cured my migraines! – How I went from the before to after pictures below  (HINT: its not dairy)! 🙂
