Hey all! I thought I would share the meaning of some of the common relationship bonds we hear a lot about these days especially in the spiritual community… It helped me to get a better understanding of things so I thought why not share it here 🙂

I do believe some of these definitions might slightly vary from one person to another but I am sharing what resonates with me  🙂

So what do all these terms mean & what’s the difference between them:

• Soulmates
• Kindred spirits
• Twin flames
• Past life connections
• Karmic connections

 

Soul mate

To me soul mates are not only limited to romantic relationships. They can be your friends and family too, people you share a strong connection with, mentally, & emotionally.  You feel comfortable with each other; you understand each other & trust them more easily in comparison to other people. Also you can have multiple soul mates in one life time, and certainly can end up dating more than one soul mate. To me the whole purpose of soul mate connection, is to help one another during this life time. This also applies to romantic relationships when two people can come together to learn a lesson from each other & move on. Soul mate doesn’t necessarily mean your life partner, they can be, BUT remember the whole point is for a life lesson to be learnt.

 

Kindred Spirits

Kindred spirits identify each other much like soulmates, but their bond is of shared similarities and interests. Kindred spirits are far more physical and mental than other connections because of the nature of them. These are the people in life who just get us and so we usually get to spend a lot of time with them if not physically then communicating over the phone because 1) they can simply understand us and 2) we have many interests & similarities with them.

 

Twin Flames

Twin flames, like kindred spirits, are similar beings whose souls connect to each other. However, the similarities of twin flames lie more in the spiritual realm, not limited to the physical or mental. Twin flames are male and female, but the flames can reside within anyone regardless of gender identity.

Many people say twin flames are your perfect mirror, & that they are two unique halves that join to form one whole soul.

But honestly I personally disagree! Because if they were, then a twin flame relationship would be smooth and easy! Reality is, they are far from easy. Unlike soul mate relationships, twin flames tend to be on & off, sometimes intensely passionate & sometimes intensely painful. Twin flame relationship also serve a lesson/s to be learnt but often take years to be understood but both parties!  Some also say, you & your twin flame come in union in your last life time, to go back to source together!

Me: “That’s fucking cruel! I am complete alone & I am enlightened & ready to go to source by myself, he can deal with his mess alone!!!”… lol

*** I can’t exactly help you with this bond, all I can say is it is intense, you only have ONE TF & that you two come in union when you have both dealt with your own issues, traumas separately, so you can come in union. However it is good to note, that there are also stages to TF relationships, which includes separation, but i will not discuss these on here.

Past Life Connections

Past life connections are often associated with an odd sense of spiritual déjà vu, wherein the souls recognize each other from previous lives though the physical beings may not. Like twin flames, the souls of those who share past life connections are two halves of a whole. However, it is the reverse, wherein the soul has been split into the two halves and the resulting sensation is the “past life” association.

Also if you have done a past life regression, & you saw someone from your current life time, that could explain why you have the connection you have in this life time.

Karmic Connections

Karmic connections are more intricate, but still relate to the association of common energies and spiritualities. Simply put, this is the result of your past actions and reactions on your present self. People with strong past connections will share an equally strong bond in the present due to the relation of their spirits.

A karmic connection could be with anyone not limited to romantic relationships, it is relationship designed to heal past life lessons and pain. Karmic relationships are the type of soulmate relationships that no one wants, but everyone has. Also think of you family members you can’t stand, lol.

 

& here you have it, the difference between all these bonds. I do want to make it clear that I choose to share this not to just define these terms, but by explaining the dynamic of the bond & what’s is purpose. Also I do want to make it clear that you shouldn’t get too attached to some terms either, especially Soul mate or twin flames. Trust that with timing is will reveal it self and if you are too attached to what it will be, perhaps you want to acknowledge what that says about your relationships with yourself.

Why I say that is because again, the whole purpose of these bonds is to teach you a lesson and for many of us it is codependency, self-love & self-worth. Another reason is because, even if this is the person you will end up with, this will NOT happen until you attain union with your own self before being able to harmonically have union with another.
